What is Reiki?

Reiki is classified as energy therapy and a system of energy healing.  Reiki is simple, natural and a safe method of healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.  It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.  A treatment is deeply relaxing and includes many beneficial effects.  Reiki always seems to impress those who say they find it difficult to relax.

Reiki originated in Tibet which was established in the 19th  century by Dr. Mikao Usui, and the Usui System has been passed down by Reiki Masters since that time.  Today, Usui Reiki is practiced worldwide. The word "Reiki" - The first syllable, "rei," is translated as "universal".  The second syllable, "ki," means the fundamental life force flowing in all living things.  If one's "energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress.  If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.  A Reiki practitioner facilitates the process where by the energy is transmitted to raise or improve the flow of energy.

In the practice of Reiki, the practitioner helps healing energy to enter as well as remove negative energy.  Energy goes wherever it is needed most by the receiver.  No personal energy is drawn or drained from the practitioner.  Reiki treats the mental causes of an illness creating positive emotional balance as well as working on the physical symptoms in the body of parts not functioning properly.
